This historic, two storey house is one of the oldest in the village of Megalochori. It stands out, not only in height and elegance but for the beautiful restoration which has remained completely faithful to the original features and structure of the property.

The restoration and modernization has only recently been completed. The house now has 2 double bedrooms on the ground floor, both with air conditioning and heating, a brand new bathroom with hydro-massage shower, and a new fitted kitchen. Modern appliances blend in with hand-crafted elements.

There is a dining area downstairs; here a newly constructed wooden staircase leads up to a beautifully proportioned sitting room. This room can also be reached by climbing the stone staircase at the front of the house. There are balconies leading off each side of this room. A small wooden balcony, a fair-sized south-facing veranda with views of the pine forested hills, and a large terrace with views looking toward the sea and the Peloponnesian mainland. This terrace has a pergola in the traditional style and outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. A metal staircase leads down off the back of the terrace to the narrow, walled courtyard; where established trees such as Hibiscus, Jasmine and Lemon grow.

This courtyard can be accessed from one of the bedrooms and there is also a garden entrance to the property. A compact utility room with toilet can be found in this courtyard area.

The house is a pleasingly unexpected mixture of charming original features blended with modern practical comforts. Original artefacts and antiques have been given a refreshing new lease on life.

Despite the centrality of the location, the house really is within (2-10 minutes) walk of everything. (Restaurants, cafes, 2 well stocked mini-markets, bakery, bike rental, a beach, the port, walking trails). It is incredibly peaceful being situated within the tiny walking paths of the old village away from the road.

Agistri is a tiny, green gem of an island (5km long), undiscovered by mass tourism it offers an authentic Greek island experience at the same time as being accessible to major sites such as the Acropolis and the theatre of Epidavros. There are also organised trips to neighbouring islands or you can take a quick 10 min boat ride to the larger island of Aegina opposite.

Agistri itself has much to offer; sandy beaches, rocky coves, snorkeling and swimming in spectacularly crystal blue waters, hidden swim-holes and even a shipwreck with scuba diving trips for all levels. The pine forests completely cover the island and are carpeted with flowers in spring and autumn; during hot summers they offer cool shade for the biking/hiking trails.

Skala and Megalochori are both ports on the east coast, 1.5km apart. The former for the Car ferries, the latter for the (faster foot passenger) Flying Dolphins (Piraeus- Agistri takes 55minutes).

There is only one road which connects the 3 villages on the island as well as one which follows the beach between Skala and Megalochori - a very pleasant walk or bike-ride if you fancy an evening of buzzing cafes and bars, more choices of restaurants and souvenir shops.

Scooter or bicycle rentals are cheap and a great way to explore the island. There is also a local bus and taxis for getting around.
